PLEASE NOTE: This budget contains some estimated amounts. The actual cost for some items (i.e. meals, airfare, passport) will change according to each participant’s individual needs.
INFORMATION RELATED TO PROGRAM EXPENSES
Cancellation Policy: Participants must adhere to the payment schedules and cancellation policies as established by the partner organization.
Cancellation Policy: This fee is non-refundable.
ADMINISTRATIVE FEE: All UK participants on this program are assessed a $100 UK Education Abroad Administrative Fee. This fee will be charged to the participant’s UK student billing account during the semester in which the program occurs (i.e., Summer I, Summer II, etc).
Cancellation Policy: This fee is non-refundable for participants who withdraw from the program abroad after the last day to withdraw from a UK course during the academic term (UK Academic Calendar). Withdrawals prior to this date will receive a full refund of the Administrative Fee.
ISP 599: STUDY ABROAD COURSE: All UK undergraduate participants on this program will be enrolled in ISP 599: Study Abroad. This pass/fail course keeps students classified as full-time and thus allows a student to utilize federal financial aid and most institutional aid for his/her education abroad program. Additionally, this required course serves to provide each student with the necessary information, preparation, and support to successfully navigate the Education Abroad process. This course charges one credit hour of tuition at the student's normal rate (in-state or out-of-state). The ISP 599 tuition will be charged to the participant’s UK Student Billing Account during the semester in which the program occurs (i.e., Summer I, Summer II, etc). UK graduate and professional students may elect not to be enrolled in ISP 599 and must contact the UK Education Abroad office to decline enrollment in ISP 599.
Cancellation Policy: Participants who withdraw from the program abroad prior to the first day of the UK academic term (UK Academic Calendar) will not be responsible for the tuition associated with ISP 599. Participants who withdraw from the program abroad on or after the first day of the UK academic term will be responsible for a portion of the Administrative Fee in accordance with the Tuition and Fee Liability policy as established by the University of Kentucky.
TRAVEL MEDICAL INSURANCE: All participants on this program will receive travel medical insurance coverage. The cost of travel medical insurance is included in the program fee for all UK Sponsored, UK Consortia, and most UK Partner programs. The cost of travel medical insurance for all UK Exchanges, UK Direct and some UK Partner programs will be charged separately to the participant's UK Student Billing account.
Cancellation Policy: For travel medical insurance purchased via UK Education Abroad, UK EA will cancel future coverage and issue a refund for unused coverage to participants who withdraw from the program abroad. The cancellation policy for travel medical insurance purchased through en entity other than UK Education Abroad will be determined by the partner organization.
PASSPORT & VISA: Participants must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the expected date of return to the U.S. The Wildcat Passport Acceptance Facility, in the UK Student Center, accepts U.S. Passport applications. For more information about U.S. Passport applications please visit the U.S. Department of State website. It is the responsibility of all participants to determine if a visa is needed for entry into the destination country. Non-U.S passport holders must pay special attention to the regulations and visa requirements for both the education abroad destination country as well as the U.S. visa requirements in order to return to the U.S.
