ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE AN AUTOMATIC $2000 SCHOLARSHIP

PLEASE NOTE: This budget contains some estimated amounts. The actual cost for some items (i.e. meals, airfare, passport) will change according to each participant’s individual needs.  


UK Students participating on this program during the summer term will receive an automatic scholarship in the amount of $2000. This amount will be deducted from the advertised "Expenses Billed to your UK student account” listed above. Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships and financial aid to help cover the costs associated with education abroad programs. Please see our scholarship website for additional funding opportunities.


INFORMATION RELATED TO PROGRAM EXPENSES

PROGRAM FEE: Participants on this program are directly responsible to the partner organization, National University of Ireland, Maynooth, for any program application fee and program fees. Participants of this program are strongly encouraged to carefully consult the partner organization’s website for detailed cost information, billing information, withdrawal policies, etc. Please note that NUIM sets its program fee in Euros. As a result the US $ equivalent of the Euro 2950 fee may vary from the $ amount indicated in the budget above, depending on the exchange rate.

Cancellation Policy: Participants must adhere to the payment schedules and cancellation policies as established by the partner organization, National University of Ireland Maynooth. 

APPLICATION FEE: All UK participants on this program are assessed a non-refundable $50 UK Education Abroad Application Fee. This fee will be charged to the participant’s UK student account at the end of the month in which the application was created. Applications submitted in error must be withdrawn (by you) before the end of the month in which the application was created in order to avoid the application fee. 

Cancellation Policy: This fee is non-refundable.

ADMINISTRATIVE FEE: All UK participants on this program are assessed a $100 UK Education Abroad Administrative Fee. This fee will be charged to the participant’s UK student billing account during the semester in which the program occurs (i.e., Summer I, Summer II, etc).

Cancellation Policy: This fee is non-refundable for participants who withdraw from the program abroad after the last day to withdraw from a UK course during the academic term (UK Academic Calendar). Withdrawals prior to this date will receive a full refund of the Administrative Fee. 

ISP 599: STUDY ABROAD COURSE: All UK undergraduate participants on this program will be enrolled in ISP 599: Study Abroad. This pass/fail course keeps students classified as full-time and thus allows a student to utilize federal financial aid and most institutional aid for his/her education abroad program. Additionally, this required course serves to provide each student with the necessary information, preparation, and support to successfully navigate the Education Abroad process. This course delivers charges one credit hour of tuition at the student's normal rate (in-state or out-of-state). The ISP 599 tuition will be charged to the participant’s UK student account during the semester in which the program occurs (i.e., Summer I, Summer II, etc). UK graduate and professional students may elect not to be enrolled in ISP 599 and must contact the UK Education Abroad office to decline enrollment in ISP 599. 

Cancellation Policy: Participants who withdraw from the program abroad prior to the first day of the UK academic term (UK Academic Calendar) will not be responsible for the tuition associated with ISP 599. Participants who withdraw from the program abroad on or after the first day of the UK academic term will be responsible for a portion of the Administrative Fee in accordance with the Tuition and Fee Liability policy as established by the University of Kentucky.

TRAVEL MEDICAL INSURANCE:  All participants on this program will be enrolled in HTH travel medical insurance and DRUM, political security and natural disaster evacuation services, for the duration of the program via the University of Kentucky. The cost for insurance via the University of Kentucky is $10.50 per week (7 days) and will be billed to the participant’s UK student account 1-3 months prior to the program start date. Coverage can only be purchased in week increments. Please see the EA Travel Medical Insurance website for more information.  Participants who carry personal insurance policies that meet the minimum standards of international medical insurance coverage as established by UK may request a waiver of the mandatory HTH/DRUM coverage by completing the Travel Medical Insurance Verification Form.

Cancellation Policy: UK Education Abroad will cancel future coverage and issue a refund for unused coverage to participants who withdraw from the program abroad. 

PASSPORT & VISA: Participants must have a passport valid for at least 6 months after the expected date of return to the U.S. The Wildcat Passport Acceptance Facility, in the UK Student Center, accepts U.S. Passport applications. For more information about U.S. Passport applications please visit the U.S. Department of State website. U.S passport holders participating on this program during the summer II term are not required to obtain a visa for entry. Non-U.S passport holders must check the website of the Embassy of Ireland for visa regulations.
