Education Abroad at UK

What is an EASA?

The acronym EASA represents two distinct student positions on the Education Abroad Team, which have a common mission of promoting and encouraging education abroad experiences at UK.

Education Abroad Student Ambassador:

The Ambassadors are returned students who promote Education Abroad at UK and make various campus and classroom presentations, combining personal experience with knowledge of Education Abroad policies and procedures. Ambassadors are very important campus representatives of the Education Abroad office. In addition to small group presentations, they are available for one-on-one peer advising and mentoring.

Education Abroad Student Assistant:

The Assistants focus on providing services related to EA at UK by performing various office duties, such as reception, filing, data entry, and website maintenance. Like the Ambassadors, Assistants represent Education Abroad, often as a first line of contact by telephone or in person. These students demonstrate international interests, but unlike the Ambassadors, they may not have had an education abroad experience yet.

Students: If you would like to help us promote Education Abroad at UK, please read more to learn how to become an EASA. If you would like to contact one of our EASAs, you may refer to our list of current EASAs, which includes their major, where they studied, and their interests. Their contact information is also listed on the EA Team tab at the top of the website.

EASA Presentations: If you are an instructor, advisor, or residence hall advisor and would like to schedule an Education Abroad presentation by one of our EASAs, please contact Sonya Cunningham, Education Abroad Advisor, at sgcunn2@email.uky.edu
